Lahaina Arts Guild
About Us

The Lahaina Arts Guild (LAG) and its We Make Art Happen program bring art and music education, cultural experiences, free supplies and safe venues to the Maui County community. We organize, staff and teach school classes, outdoor (plein-air) PaintOuts and Summer Camps. We work closely with companies and foundations within the Lahaina Historic District, and we collaborate with local community schools, churches, law firms and insurance companies, all with the object of educating and enhancing the lives of our local children.

Our partners include Maui United Way, the Hawai’i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Maui Pono Foundation, the Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation, the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, and the San Francisco Foundation.
Please join us today! Help us grow our classes and scholarships. Your generous donation makes our Keiki art and music programs possible.
Our History

The Lahaina Arts Guild was established in 2018 by members of the 58 year-old Lahaina Arts Society (LAS) as a tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization to provide children’s art programs, and to bring the world of art to our Maui youth. Historically, LAS provided free, on-site art classes and activities to children living in Maui County. Classes began at the Banyan Tree Gallery and the Old Jail Gallery in the historic Old Lahaina Courthouse in the 1970s, and the Lahaina Arts Guild continues this tradition with our local artists as teachers and mentors for our Keiki.

Our work is even more important in the aftermath the Lahaina fire disaster. We are coordinating with the newly built west side schools to provide Maui County youth access to the creative arts, while promoting post-fire healing for the children and their families. We provide skills-based art and music classes for children of all ages, an Annual Student Art Show, a Scholarship Awards Program, Summer Camps and PaintOuts.
